Staircase to Heaven
Switchback Memorial Baptist Church in Switchback, West Virginia stood for many years and boasted a congregation that numbered over 100 during the mid 1950s. Unfortunately, the decline of the coalfields slowly eroded the membership, and the church sat abandoned for over 20 years before a fire of suspicious nature left nothing but the staircase.
